OpenQuery not working after applyin SQL Server SP4

SELECT * FROM openquery( OLAP_PLS,'SELECT { [Measures].[Produced Qty] } ON COLUMNS , { [Time].[Year].&[2007].&[1].&[2] } ON ROWS FROM [Employee]')

Issue:

We have Linked Server setup to OLAP Server. which was working fine for long time. After applying SP4 on SQL Server, we started getting this error. But the same query runs from another server with SP3.

After applying SP4, I have also applied 2 hotfixes to SQL Server. One hot fix is related to using using memory more than 3GB and another hotfix is for this Linked server issue. but still I have the problem.

SELECT * FROM openquery( OLAP_PLS,'SELECT { [Measures].[Produced Qty] } ON COLUMNS , { [Time].[Year].&[2007].&[1].&[2] } ON ROWS FROM [Employee]')

Error:

Server: Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
OLE DB provider 'MSOLAP' reported an error.
[OLE/DB provider returned message: Database 'PLS' does not exist.]
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'MSOLAP' IDBInitialize::Initialize returned 0x80004005: ].

Appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Varad

Hi all,
I am running SQL2000 SP4 and want to run the command:
SELECT *
FROM OPENDATASOURCE('Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', 'Data
Source="f:\jackpot\jackpot.mdb"; User ID=Admin;Password=')..."master table
with members"
logged in as "sa" it is fine but when another user no "sa" runs I get:
Ad hoc access to OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' has been denied.
You must access this provider through a linked server.
Can anyone help me? The user that will run that is not "sa"

thanks for that, I created a new registry entry (DisallowAdHocAccess) under
'Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider' set to 0 and it's working fine. The key
is the DisallowAdHocAccess for each provider.
thanks

Open File Dialog Like Enterprise Menager ?

Hi, It is possible to open a file dialog directly from another pc
(windows 2000 server sp4, msde sp3) like enterprise manager do when you
try to restaure a database?
I don't want to share folder on my server, and I want to select the
backup file (located on my server) from my application (run on my
computer).
I have try with SQL-DMO but I can find anything.
Thank youThe SQL-NS API expose the dialogs that EM has. Possibly this backup dialog a
s well. Note that SQL-NS
has not been carried forward to 2005.
Another option is do-it-yourself. I have done what you try to do by submitti
ng SQL queries to
enumerate disks, folders, files etc. You'd have to use Profiler to see what
extended stored
procedures that are used by these dialogs by EM, and note that many of these
are not documented =
not supported!
