Opening a new window on clicking a hyperlink

Hi,

We are opening a Crystal Enterprise report in a browser. The report is opened in a .pdf format. We need to make some texts/images appear as hyperlinks. We did so by formatting the concerned objects in the Crystal Reports Designer and specifying the website address. But on clicking the text/image, the website is being opened in the same window. What can we do so that the website gets opened in a new window? Please Help!
We are using Crystal Reports 10.

Thanks,
ManishHi,

Let me rephrase the problem again after some observations.
We have found out that the hyperlink in thus generated pdf file is indeed opening in a new window. But when this pdf file is displayed inside a frame, clicking on the hyperlink is opening in the same window/frame. Please Help.

Regards,
Manishsql

The work around that I found for this is:

The URL that you provide under the Navigation -> Jump To Url must be replaced by :

="javascript:void(window.open('URL','_blank'))"

This worked for me fine after deploying my report to the Report Server.

Open URL in New Browser

My report has a table that when I click on a cell it jumps to URL and open
it in the same browser window. How to open the URL in a new browser instead
of current browser window?
Thanks. You didn't ask about Excel but this response of mine to another post will
answer you question:
Depending on how you design your reports you can do the following to export
to Excel. Or, what I do sometimes is make a copy of the report and clean it
up for data export and then hide it in list view. If you export from Report
Manager it puts CSV data in unicode which Excel puts all in one column. If
you export in ASCII then Excel does just as you want. To prevent a problem
with cells (Excel will object to sorting the data) you need to remove any
textboxes you have (for instance with a title, showing the parameters run
etc) and instead add additional header rows, merge the cells and put your
text in there instead. I add a link at the top of the report that says
Export Data. With RS 2005 you will be able to configure it to use ASCII
instead of Unicode.
Here is an example of a Jump to URL link I use. This causes Excel to come up
with the data in a separate window:
="javascript:void(window.open('" & Globals!ReportServerUrl &
"?/SomeFolder/SomeReport&ParamName=" & Parameters!ParamName.Value &
"&rs:Format=CSV&rc:Encoding=ASCII','_blank'))"

The report I am viewing is in SQL 2000. I replaced your example with my

Even better, do a test with a report that is without parameters so you know

You may not have rights to edit those tables. Execute sp_helprotect
'null','tablename' and see if you have permissions for those tables.

I've noticed that in past testing if a table had an indentity column, I
could edit it. Without one, I could not. That may be a bit of a
simplification. It could be related to a whether the table has a PK or
not or a unique index.

Open PDF in Web Browser

Hi,
I've got a report that I invoke from within Javascript using a direct
URL hit to the report. When the report generates it asks to either
"Open" or "Save" the PDF file. When I click on Open it opens Acrobat
Reader to view the file.
I need the report to open within the same browser as the javascript
that kicked it off without any prompts.
Is this possible in Reporting Services?
Regards,
Graham Richter.Hi
Are you wanting it still to be pdf and just open with the plugin? Or
otherwise render it as html.

open a report in a new window??

Hi guys.. quick question.
We are using SRS.
When using my browser, i can find my list of reports...
the problem that my users want fixed.. is they want to click on a
report... and have it open in a new window.
so the main list of reports always stays open.. and also so they can
run more than 1 report at a time so they can compare things.
I told them to right click, open in new window... but they want it to
be automatic.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,...Use TARGET= in the tag for the report link - it will then open a new window
(instead of an HREF)

your list.
If you type in the url as this, the links work like a charm
http://servername/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx?ViewMode=webpartList
This will change the colours of your page to a SharePointy blue, but that
can be changed in your code if you don't like it. If you want the detailed
look, you use viewmode=webpartdetails.

there isn't any code to edit on the srs reports page... everything is
in the assembly and controlled by SRS...|||You have to have your own web page. If you were providing the link of
reports then you could do this by changing the URL. In this case however you
are using Report Manager. You do not have control of how Report Manager
works. So, your choice is to either have your own webpage that integrates
wtih Report Server (I.e. do not use Report Manager) or tell your users to
open up multiple copies of IE.

online backup

Sir,
Is it possible to create an online system for taking backup of SQL Server Database from browser.
One option for all the tables with all Primary Keys, etc. and Other one for Saving Data in all the database.
Thanks in Advance,
Vishwa VivekHi Vishwa
SQL database backups always contain full table definitions, keys, data etc..
It's literally a copy of the entire database. These are always "online" from
the point of view that other uses can continue using the database whilst the
backup is going on but not "online" from the internet point of view.
It's possible to create a system that backs up the tables, keys etc
separately from the data, but the application you build to do this is
probably not going to be "online" in that it will hold up other users from
using the system whilst your data backups are going on. It can be done
though - the SQL Enterprise Manager has features (script database for
scripting tables, keys etc & Export / Import wizard for backing up pure data
to various formats). The Enterprise Manager can access remote SQL Servers
over the internet, but it's not really an online application from the
internet sense.
To build such an app, you could produce .asp or .aspx code (or even .php or
other) that allows you to issue the correct commands to support either
database backups or your own custom table, key /. data backups but this
would be rolling your own code.
There are some web based management tools that have already been produced.
Here are a couple:
